Proposition 37 – Right to Know What’s in Our Food

Vote YES on PROP 37. This gives us the right to know what is in our food. Ever wonder, then not know where to go to find out? You should just go the the label. Pesticide and junk-food companies say it’s too costly to add another label to their products Yet spend millions of dollars trying to convince us otherwise. Their greed and hunger for financial gain puts our health at risk. So, proposition 37 requires food companies to label their food products with all ingredients including GMOs, which are currently not indicated.

Since the whole point is to know and like what is in our food; if the label provides us with information we don’t know or like we’re probably not going to eat it. Companies have to know this and hopefully, with the approval of Prop 37, will push them towards removing chemically processed/ genetically engineered ingredients. Then, they won’t have anything too scary for us to read or try to understand on those shinny new labels.

50 countries around the world already provide their consumers with said information. As Americans, choosiest of the choosers, we have to right to make fully informed food choices. Vote YES on Prop 37.

Raw Food Workshop in Seattle: New friends, yummy food

My raw workshop in Seattle was a lot of work, but fully worth it!!! Much like an excellent dish, there was plenty of preparation and work, all made worth it by the payoff of sharing good food with friends.

Seattle is such an incredible place for those interested in health, food, and environment, and was such a cool location for my workshop where i was able to share tips for living raw. With the help of Air, Puget Sound Creative, MAKERS, and Bluewater Vodka the workshop was a complete success: inspirational, instructive, social and fun.

I was blown away by MAKERS, where the event was held at. Those new to raw foods were surprised to find a menu that included my raw flat bread pizza, yummy drinks and raw cheesecake. As we ate, the looks on the girls faces said it all! At that point I thought to myself “mission accomplish!” [Read more...]

I’m excited to share with you one of my favorite recipe. The Raw Energy Balls are super simple to make and only require a bowl and mixing spoon. They make the perfect snack for activities, great for desert, and the kids love them! They are high in protein, fiber, calcium, magnesium, potassium and Omerga-6 Fatty Acids.

They are best kept in the freezer and can last up to 2 months. I always keep a stash of treats somewhere in case of a sweet tooth emergency!

Leafy greens are essential to human health, and a great way to consume them is in green smoothies. You can variate the amount of fruit to make it sweeter, and I find that adding frozen bananas to it makes the texture even creamier..  [Read more...]
